What is Limitless AI?
Is the era of AI devices upon us in an awkward sort of surveillance way?
Hey Everyone,
I’m on one of my special mental health days off, but then I saw this demo.
Rewind AI is a pretty curious company. Rewind is a personalized AI powered by everything you've seen, said, or heard. Your colleagues will wonder how you do it all. From the Linkedin of Dan Siroker it appears the dystopian name of the startup has taken on a more Techno-optimistic hue!
A shiny hue indeed!
I’ll admit, I’m amused. So many AI wearables these days, just waiting to see what Jony Ive comes up with this time.
Dan must have gotten some feedback that his Rewind idea wasn’t colorful enough, well that can be fixed.
Do you need a Memory AI Assistant?
Do you want to be limitless in the age of AI? The Pendant is maybe best thought of as a memory assistant that transcribes audio recordings—from individual meetings to entire days—to form a deep archive of searchable information.
Limitless is an Enterprise AI Pendant
In an interview with the Verge, the CEO had this to say: “Preparing you for meetings, transcribing meetings, giving you real-time notes of meetings and summaries of meetings.” For $20 a month, the app will capture audio from your computer’s mic and speakers, and you can also give it access to your email and calendar. With that combination — and ultimately all the other apps you use for work, Siroker says — Limitless can do a lot to help you keep track of conversations.
Augments you in Meetings at work
Limitless is live right now
You can bookmarket moments with a tap
Record your colleagues at crucial moments (with consent mode)
Another day, another AI wearable, etc…
With Limitless you get all the benefits of a personalized AI without sacrificing privacy.
Backed by OpenAI and a16z
The company, which until recently was known as Rewind, started this work in the digital space with an app that can search through and summarize online meetings, web browsing, and other desktop application use. It raised more than $33 million from investors including Andreessen Horowitz and OpenAI’s Sam Altman.
Limitless is literally the new name of the company it turns out.
The $99 device is meant to be with you all the time — Siroker says its battery lasts 100 hours — and uses beam-forming tech to more clearly record the person speaking to you.
They want to build a developer platform with AI agents and apps.
With a circular face of brushed aluminum about the size of a watch, the Limitless Pendant will be available in eight colors.
Is it time you augmented yourself as well?
Unfairly dystopian with a nice Techno-Optimist wrapper, I wouldn’t expect anything less from Rewind.
But wait, there’s more!
An LED lights up whenever it’s recording, and the Limitless Pendant also has a “Consent Mode” that detects new voices and doesn’t record them until the software hears them agree to being recorded.
The company expects the first units to ship in August.
The Machine Economy is going to have ambient computing and intelligence everywhere, we just are’t sure of the form factors and design it will take.
